Avenue Cringe

The most humiliating of all experiences is the one which is self inflicted.

I was just supposed to tag along Raz and Pinky as they went to audition for Avenue Q kanina. Pero for some reason, napasign up ako. At napa audition. And the rest, I will eternally remember (or would really want to forget), as the most humiliating of all my misadventures.

Not being prepared for anything, (no practice and no piece), kinanta ko na lang the same song that Raz sang (I’ll Cover You from Rent). I know the song by heart, and sometimes when I belt it out alone at home, I kind of hear myself singing it so close to the original. Hehe. But even that thought did not stop my quivering.

Sobrang kinakabahan ako. Hearing a few other hopefuls (not to mean that I was hopeful), who went in before I did (pati na si Pinky with her undeniably Lea Salonga-ish voice, and Raz’s too was good), mas nangatog ako lalo.

Then the "X" mark, where people who would audition had to stand on. Bobby Garcia no less was among the panel. It wasn’t anything American Idol where a Simon gets to bash you. But I swear I knew I was like one of those contestants that made you cringe. (Pero di naman yung tipong "Putangina bakit yan nag audition?"…although kung isa ako sa panel, sasabihin ko sa taong ito na "Putangina bakit ka nag audition?")

Mali na agad unang nota pa lang eh. Falceto to the unknown level, sabay shift ng boses (kase I’ll Cover You is a duet piece). And I knew I was making a total fool out of myself. I just stared at the piano. I didn’t want to see the look at Bobby Garcia’s and friends’ (friends?) faces.

Sinungaling naman ako kung sabihin ko na I completely do not want to audition. Syemps pangarap ko din ang tumeatro. But I know my limits. At yung kanina was certainly pushing myself way beyond. Ito na ang pinakamapangarap sa lahat ng mapangarap na konsepto ko sa buhay.

I know I can carry a tune. (Haha) Kung di siguro nangatog ang boses ko, I could’ve done better. Nervousness got the best of me. But I’m sure even my best would have not saved me from the humiliation. Humiliation to myself. Pake ba sakin ng mga taga Atlantis.

Looking on the brighter side ..if I have a list of things I want to do before I die, auditioning will definitely be in it. So at least may check mark na yon sa list ko.

Dapat siguro nag Trekky Monster voice na lang ako kanina (a character from Avenue Q na ang boses eh mala Cookie Monster). Siguro napastanding ovulation pa sila. Wehehehe. Nabuntis?

Pinay Mutya leaves Sugababes

Well, medyo huli na ko sa balita (ayon sa mga sites, December pa ito). But when I saw Sugababe’s latest video over Myx, I wondered why the Pinay pride Mutya Buena isn’t with the band anymore. Apparently, she left the British pop trio, and here’s what she had to say about it:

“I’ve enjoyed an unbelievable career so far and I’m so proud of what
we’ve achieved with Sugababes over the years. My decision to leave the
band at this point is based purely on my personal reasons… I think there comes a time when everyone
wants to re-evaluate their life and what they want out of it. For me
that time has now come. For a long time I have been discussing with
Heidi and Keisha our plans for the future and it got to the point where
I honestly felt that the commitment I would need to make to Sugababes
over the next 12 months was something that would become compromised by
me. Clearly that wouldn’t have been fair to Heidi or Keisha or most of
all to our fans. Certainly, my departure from the band would never mean
the end of Sugababes…”

I like that part that I highlighted. Ganda. Hehe. Even someone pala who is so successful and famous gets through that "phase".
